HYC Check In

Miami left me sun-drenched, and soggy! Thunder and lightning storms every night - but warm. It was a strange sensation for this Seattle girl. But now I'm tan and heavier than I was when I left. We swam and sweated and ate fresh foods, but no "formal" exercise, and had some cocktails and one of the best meals of my life at Joe's Stone Crabs. I had a wonderful time, I don't regret it for a minute!

I'm back on the straight and narrow - went to the gym last night, whining all the way, but I felt great when I was through. I'll get back to normal soon. This week, I'm not ready to kick sugar altogether, but I have to stop eating candy. I love candy. I love junky, fruity, gummy candy. It is horrible for me. I especially love fake watermelon and apple flavors. There's no value in eating it, and it takes away valuable calories from my daily budget. I love black licorice. That stuff, I get the good kind, the really dark Australian stuff. So this week, no more candy. It's a small step. So far, I've got 2 days behind me. Yahoo!

So glad you had a great trip, and good for you for getting back on track as soon as you got home! Candy is (one of!) my downfall, too, although generally speaking it's only bad once a month. ;)

Vacations are meant to be enjoyed, and I'm so happy you did! Re-entry can be tough, but it looks like you're on your way!

Hey, let me know if you need some Australian licorice - that's where I am and I have to say that Darrel Lea licorice is the best!!

I don't usually come back to make a 2nd comment but I have just read the following in your post dated 24th October, 2007... Yes I went back to your first post. I'm a bit weird like that.

'My favorite part – before she explained the lunges, she said “You know why I’m showing you this? So when we’re 70 we’ll be able to get off the toilet.” That made me laugh, and then I realized that she is right'.

I am 71. I can't believe I'm that old so I keep on repeating it. Life's is not too bad at 200 odd pound, not good but not bad. My great concern is what will happen at 80 or 90 if I live so long. Sooner or later the excess pounds destroy all quality of life. How much more wonderful to enjoy as many years as possible at optimum weight. It's worth a little bit of work and sometimes discipline and even a little deprivation to live at normal weight.

I love your exuberant approach to life. *smile*
